Hello sweet friend, We are back in Dallas and in some ways it feels great to be home, and in other ways I'm wishing (a bit) we were still back in AZ. It was such a quick 6 weeks! I'm so thankful for my sister and brother in-law who were so generous to invite us to stay in their home while they were off exploring the world. It was a perfect introduction to the desert for Tom and sooooo relaxing! And that ties right into what I wanted to share with you today. Let me start with a question: What do you have to offer and how are you offering it? My lovely sister and brother-in-law did not have to offer their home to us. We were planning on visiting the desert and were prepared to rent something for the month. But they generously offered their home (for free!) so we were able to stay longer and enjoy all the things in the desert even more freely thanks to their generosity. The location was perfect and met our needs in abundance. The positive thing for them was someone was "watching" their home while they were gone, and then they came back from their vacation to a spotless and well stocked home. Win-win! And that's what happens when we open our hands to offer what we have. This week I offered my voice to our church choir. (First time in YEARS!) I was blessed more than I can explain as I got to sing again, and they were blessed by the addition of a skilled musician, and the church body will be blessed Sunday when we all sing at the worship service. The wonderful thing is we all have something to offer. -Your wisdom accrued through challenges. -Your skill as a cook or baker. -Your ability as an organizer. -Your presence in time of need. It doesn't have to be anything "big." In fact, most of us usually think our offering is "not worth much" because it's "just" what's so easy and natural for us. But let me encourage you to look for ways to open your hands and share your unique offering. Then when you do, hit reply and let me know what happened! Because I guarantee that your generosity of spirit will bless not only the recipient, but you as well - only double! Now I'm off to the Professional Pickleball tournament that's in town this week. I bought a 3-day-pass and today is day 2. Interestingly, this might be my last one of these for a while (I'd rather be painting!) but that's another story for another day. Love you and cheering you on, Christy :) P.S. Leaving you with the last sunset of our AZ trip and the first one back home. Always be looking for beauty. :) And Texas... |

Hello sweet friend, As we move into the heart of Holy Week and experience Good Friday leading to Easter Sunday, I've had a few thoughts that I wanted to share. When Jesus was in the middle of his 3 years with the disciples, one thing I've noticed over and over is that he had an extraordinary amount of compassion for people. One story that comes to mind is just before he fed the 5,000 in Matthew 14:13-21. To give you some background, his cousin, John the Baptist, had just been killed...
Hello sweet friend! How about if I give you a peek into my real life? I feel crummy. My stomach hurts compliments of the antibiotics and pain medication I'm on for the pain in my mouth which is compliments of 2 new temporary crowns required as a result of my teenage ice chewing! Ugh. In addition, I'm not sleeping (see pain above) and there is a big family wedding this weekend and my entire family will be gathered...and you know...family. So my emotional state is a bit precarious. I took a...
Hi there sweet friend, This week I thought I'd share with you another article I wrote for the online magazine Living Our Best Life Project. It has not been published yet, so once again, you're getting the first look. I just thought the ideas might be helpful for you too. I know I enjoyed reminding myself as I was writing it. :) On other fronts, lots of art is happening here in Plano. Not quite as magical as making art in Arizona, but still, any day I can paint is a good day. And so far this...
