Happy Friday my friend! Today is day 50 of my "Draw Every Day" experiment. For 50 days in a row, I've picked up my pen or crayon or pencil or marker and drawn something. Some days I was following along with a class. Some days I was following a Youtube video. And some days - like last night at 9:00pm, when I was exhausted from a full day of driving to College Station to pick up Graham from college and then from evening errands...I just picked up my favorite tools (Caran D' Ache Neocolor II Aquarelle), set my timer, and for 15 minutes, drew flowers from pictures I found off google. When I started, my mindset was that "I can't draw." After all, that's what I had told myself for years. But I knew that "The more you do it, the better you get." (Thank you to my kids' kindergarten teacher for that little gem.) and so I just picked up the pencil and started. And today, I actually can draw. I no longer think "I can't draw." because that's no longer true. Today I can draw. Am I a master at drawing? Nope. Not yet... But one thing I know for sure. On May 25th, when I head to Colorado Springs to start the first week of my 5 weeks of travel, I'll be way more prepared and skilled to play in my sketchbooks than I was on March 19th, the first day of my 100 day challenge of drawing every day. Why? Because I have practiced every day. What is it that you want to try, but you've been telling yourself you can't? How many times have we said out loud...
But the truth is, pretty much anything you want to learn to do, and do well, you can! In today's world, there are plenty of free tutorials on YouTube and then the rest is up to you. All you have to do is practice! Love you, and hope you have a great weekend! xoxo Christy :) |

Greetings my friend from the beautiful city of Oslo, Norway! I’m at the beginning of a month long trip to Scandinavia, and so far it’s been great. The first 2 days were solo before my husband joined me (I used points to fly) and that meant I could shop, wander and sketch as my heart desired…and that also meant I had the time to try something special… KOK Sauna Oslo Yes! I made a reservation at a Floating Sauna - have you heard of these? They are located in the harbors of Oslo. Here’s what it...
Greetings from Colorado Springs, Colorado! I’ve just had the pleasure of celebrating my nephew’s graduation from the United States Air Force Academy and it was all so inspiring! These “kids” have done more than we can even imagine as they have pushed the limits of their body, mind and spirit over the past 4 years. The 2026 class motto is “No Quit, All Grit.” As I watched the commissioning Wednesday night, I was touched as they each promised to “Support and defend the constitution of the...
Hey sweet friend, Happy Memorial Day Weekend! USA! Yes, seems like an oxymoron since Memorial Day by definition is a bit sad. As we remember the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of freedom, our hearts of full of gratitude for them and sadness for their loss. It's a good thing we can hold both emotions at once. Both can be true for sure. And that brings me to an idea I wanted to share with you today. Gratitude In the words of the C.S. Lewis Institute, "Being grateful...
