Happy Friday my friend! I've just sent over my latest article for the Best Life 60+ online magazine and it will probably publish some time next week, but I thought you would really enjoy reading it first! I hope your week has been fabulous. It's been full of art and friendship for me, so I'm going to call it a win! I'll put a few pictures at the bottom for you to see. So with no further ado - here's the article. ---------------------- The Magic in The Ordinary As you may know, I’ve been enjoying a delightful “second act” as a budding artist. I’ve been painting, drawing, and taking lots of classes. I can honestly say, it’s been such a gift. There’s something deeply satisfying about finding a new way to express yourself… especially at this stage of life. One of the artists I follow on Instagram and Substack, Helen C. Stark, inspires me not just with her creative sketchbooks, and colorful art, but with the way she sees the world. She looks at everyday life with young, fresh, curious eyes, and recently, she shared a phrase that stopped me in my tracks: “Mundane miracles” I loved that. Now, the idea that “everywhere I look I see miracles” isn’t new. My coach, Dr. Edie Wadsworth, has encouraged that very thought for years. But calling them “mundane miracles”? That brings it right into everyday life in a way that feels tangible…and doable. Because when we think of miracles, we tend to think big: —A surprise check in the mail (still waiting on that one!) —A dramatic recovery —A near miss on the freeway Those moments are powerful…and rare. The real magic? It’s in the ordinary. —A parking spot right when you need it —Flowers blooming where you didn’t expect them —A baby across the room who locks eyes with you—and beams Or even: —Warm, clean clothes fresh out of the dryer —A dishwasher that quietly did its job overnight —Windshield wipers that glide perfectly across the glass (no squeak… just me?) These small moments are easy to overlook—but what if we didn’t? What if we actually noticed them? With detailed brain scans, science now confirms what Scripture has said all along: “A cheerful heart is good medicine”(Proverbs 17:22). And what creates a more cheerful heart than noticing the goodness already surrounding us? Noticing shifts everything. It lifts your mood. It softens your perspective. It reminds you that your life, right now, just as it is, is already full of quiet, beautiful gifts. So this week, try it. Look for the mundane miracles. They’re everywhere. And once you start seeing them… you may find they were never mundane at all. Love you and cheering you on! Christy :) P.S. I'm a little nervous sharing these with you. They are soooo BEGINNER! But I'm committed to getting better as an artist, and these are the baby steps I'm taking. (And maybe my baby steps will encourage you in some way.) I'm now up to day 29 drawing every day, and I do see some improvement, but there's a LONG way to go! 🙂 Good thing I'm enjoying the process. Oh, and the flowers are just for fun. Spring is here! xoxoxo |

Greetings my friend from the beautiful city of Oslo, Norway! I’m at the beginning of a month long trip to Scandinavia, and so far it’s been great. The first 2 days were solo before my husband joined me (I used points to fly) and that meant I could shop, wander and sketch as my heart desired…and that also meant I had the time to try something special… KOK Sauna Oslo Yes! I made a reservation at a Floating Sauna - have you heard of these? They are located in the harbors of Oslo. Here’s what it...
Greetings from Colorado Springs, Colorado! I’ve just had the pleasure of celebrating my nephew’s graduation from the United States Air Force Academy and it was all so inspiring! These “kids” have done more than we can even imagine as they have pushed the limits of their body, mind and spirit over the past 4 years. The 2026 class motto is “No Quit, All Grit.” As I watched the commissioning Wednesday night, I was touched as they each promised to “Support and defend the constitution of the...
Hey sweet friend, Happy Memorial Day Weekend! USA! Yes, seems like an oxymoron since Memorial Day by definition is a bit sad. As we remember the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of freedom, our hearts of full of gratitude for them and sadness for their loss. It's a good thing we can hold both emotions at once. Both can be true for sure. And that brings me to an idea I wanted to share with you today. Gratitude In the words of the C.S. Lewis Institute, "Being grateful...
