Hello sweet friend! How about if I give you a peek into my real life? I feel crummy. My stomach hurts compliments of the antibiotics and pain medication I'm on for the pain in my mouth which is compliments of 2 new temporary crowns required as a result of my teenage ice chewing! Ugh. In addition, I'm not sleeping (see pain above) and there is a big family wedding this weekend and my entire family will be gathered...and you know...family. So my emotional state is a bit precarious. I took a...

Hi there sweet friend, This week I thought I'd share with you another article I wrote for the online magazine Living Our Best Life Project. It has not been published yet, so once again, you're getting the first look. I just thought the ideas might be helpful for you too. I know I enjoyed reminding myself as I was writing it. :) On other fronts, lots of art is happening here in Plano. Not quite as magical as making art in Arizona, but still, any day I can paint is a good day. And so far this...

Hello sweet friend, We are back in Dallas and in some ways it feels great to be home, and in other ways I'm wishing (a bit) we were still back in AZ. Headed home It was such a quick 6 weeks! I'm so thankful for my sister and brother in-law who were so generous to invite us to stay in their home while they were off exploring the world. It was a perfect introduction to the desert for Tom and sooooo relaxing! And that ties right into what I wanted to share with you today. Let me start with a...

Happy Friday friend! Here we are with another week flown by. Yesterday my husband and I took advantage of being in the desert for Arizona Spring Training - known as The Cactus League, and we went to see the Texas Rangers (baseball) play at a nearby field. It's so fun to see the pro players up close in a small venue. I know when we go to games in Arlington (near Dallas) the stadium is ginormous and we usually end up with nosebleed seats...far, far from the action down below. Yesterday, we were...

Happy Saturday my friend! I hope you had a great week! I'm busy with art and sunshine here in the desert. Since my last note to you, I've taken THREE art classes! :) Here are the results: Class #1 - Oil Pastels: (Teacher led, I know the shadows are all wrong - it was an exercise in technique - thus the mis-lighted finished product.) :) Beginning Oil Pastel Class Verdict: Love the color, but the process is super MESSY. I'll probably use the oil pastels for accent, but I can't see myself...

Hello there friend! Greetings from the desert. It's week 2 of our 6 week trip, and after a 90 minute nap today, I'm feeling so good! Quirky I saw this ginormous cactus on my walk this morning, and I was struck by how this thing had just kept growing and growing. I don't know much about cactus' but I do know that these Saguaro cactus don't start growing arms until they are between 50 and 70 years old! So my guess is this one is an oldie. And I thought what a perfect concept to consider! Add...

Hello friend! Greetings from the beautiful Arizona desert. (I know desert and beautiful are an oxymoron to many of you, but over the next 6 weeks, I'll try to convince you! :) Last night's sunset in Tucson This was the week my husband and I were going to take a leisurely drive from Dallas to Phoenix. And then the storm hit Dallas. Freezing cold, some snow, ice everywhere and the potential for frozen pipes every night. So the plans changed. Since I already had (unrefundable) rooms booked, we...

Hi there friend! Greetings from starting to get cold Dallas! I'll bet you might be in the storm's path too - especially since it's hitting such a large swath of the US. I hope you have plenty of water, blankets and yummy snacks "just in case." I expect this is what we will wake up to Sunday morning...who knows?! Dallas Cold This has been a busy week. I've worked on Valentine's art to go into a local store for most of the week, and it's been so fun! Here are a few things I did. Valentine's...
